Initial Food Tasting with K. by Cunanan

Last Thursday, we went to Kaye Cunanan’s residence in Ayala Heights to have our initial food tasting. There were several other groups scheduled for the same time, 3 pm to 5 pm. Around five tables were set up with different colored table cloths. The tiffany chairs used were color champagne (pale gold), which I find very classy compared with the bronze, gold, silver, or white tiffany chairs I’ve seen used by other caterers.

We were served raspberry iced tea (a bit too sweet for me), squash soup (okay), and insalata caprese with orange, walnuts, and strawberry vinaigrette (okay). For our appetizers, we had hoisin chicken wrap (yummy), fried spinach and feta ravioli (a bit bland), blinis with smoked salmon (really yummy). For the pasta, we had spicy tuyo angel hair pasta (good). For the main course, we had Japanese rolled chicken with cheese, leeks, and teriyaki glaze (surprisingly really good), barbecued baby back ribs and corn (just okay, a bit dry), and slow-cooked beef with vegetables in balsamic syrup, mashed potato cakes, and creamed spinach (okay). For dessert we had queso de bola cheesecake (good) and banoffee cups (good also).

So far, the dishes I surely would like to include are the hoisin chicken wrap, blinis with smoked salmon, and the Japanese rolled chicken. 🙂 We’re not really used to taking pictures of our food (eating is foremost on our minds), and so we forgot to take pictures of some dishes. Haha. Here are the ones we managed to take:
